RPBO is a volunteer-run and almost entirely volunteer-staffed organization. We hire a professional bander-in-charge each year to ensure safety of the birds, accurate data collection and quality volunteer training. In recent years, with the support of Environment Canada's Science Horizons Youth Internship program, we have also been able to hire a banding intern.
RPBO is a registered charity in Canada (Charitable organization number 869770123RR0001). Funding is primarily obtained through private and corporate donations, community education projects and government grants. Money received supports the ongoing activities of Rocky Point Bird Observatory, including the purchase of necessary equipment.
