Hummingbirds

Recipe and Sugar

We recommend this recipe and suggest that you always make your own nectar - it's safer for the hummingbirds. Check below for answers to frequently asked questions about nectar.

Homemade Nectar Recipe

  1. Boil 4 cups of water.
  2. Stir in 1 cup of white table sugar (sucrose) until completely dissolved.

  3. Wait for the nectar to cool to room temperature before filling your feeder.

  4. Remember to change the nectar regularly (every 2 days in summer, and 7 days in winter).
